82-year-old wheelchair-bound mother left outside of Casino in the cold

Fifty-seven-year-old Andrew Hawkins Jr. has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after he plead guilty of leaving his 82-year-old wheelchair-bound mother outside a casino for several hours, while he gambled inside.

It was reported that, when Hawkins visited the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Indiana, last March, he left his mother outside in the casino's pavilion. Casino employees noticed the woman sitting outside for many hours in the cold and decided to contact police officials.

Hawkins' mother was taken to St. Catherine's Hospital in East Chicago after she complained of pain in her knee and hip resulting from an earlier fall inside the home she shares with her son.
